Howdy!
DMS is excited to share a unique experience and opportunity with you that is taking place this spring in our own backyard! We will be hosting a DMS Backyard Exploration to the Hear Me Out Song & Poetry Festival in downtown Bryan on April 18th, 2026, and we want you to be part of it.
It is important to note that being part of the event can be bigger than just attending. You also have the opportunity to participate in the event's Hear Me Out: Song and Poetry Contest. Here is what you need to know:
What They’re Looking For:
Original songs or poetry that blend your personal journey and honest emotions with themes of resilience, healing, and growth.
Key Information:
• Host: Roots Psychotherapy
• Entry Deadline: December 31, 2025
• Cost: FREE to enter
• Eligibility: Open to all
Selected artists will:
• Receive a small honorarium
• Be featured at the 2026 Hear Me Out Music & Poetry Festival
Why Enter?
• Share your creative voice through themes inspired by real human experiences of strength, challenge, and transformation
• Support awareness and community through music and poetry
• Connect with fellow artists and students
• Gain public recognition—including a chance to be featured live at a real festival

The Department of Multicultural Services (DMS), located in the Memorial Student Center (MSC), provides students with opportunities for intentional engagement and development. We recognize each student brings unique experiences, goals, values, and ways of navigating the world. Through our focus on transition, persistence, and skill development, DMS supports students in becoming and remaining actively engaged in the intellectual and social life of the university which strengthens their capacity to navigate challenge, collaborate effectively, and succeed on campus and beyond.
Whether students are just beginning their college journey, working to stay on track, or seeking to grow their skills, DMS offers programs and experiences that help them adjust, connect, and make meaningful progress toward their goals. From transition support to workshops and applied learning opportunities, our work is centered on fostering meaningful engagement, building confidence, sustaining motivation, and supporting students as they thrive within the Aggie community.
