
Camp Counselor/Crew Counselor

Additionally, we will be hosting optional informationals on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 from 8:30 PM - 9:30 PM in Rudder Tower 601 and Tuesday, January 21 from 7:30-8:30 PM in HECC 201, and Sunday, January 26th from 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM in Rudder Tower 601! As a Camp Counselor, you will have the opportunity to lead a Discussion Group of 8-12 freshmen and provide them with long-lasting relationships that embody the Aggie Spirit. As a Crew Member, you will have the opportunity to impact four sessions of freshmen through presentations at camp and behind-the-scenes tasks that support the program as a whole. This application is a stepping stone toward making an impact on many incoming Aggies, their college careers, and their lives as current and former students.

Camp Counselor/Crew Counselor Positions
Responsibilities
- Serve as an ambassador for Texas A&M University
- Uphold the Mission, Vision, and Values of Fish Camp
- Uphold Texas A&M University’s Student Rules and Core Values
- Uphold all policies within Fish Camp as outlined in the Fish Camp Constitution and By-Laws
- Complete all assigned responsibilities/tasks by their deadlines
- Demonstrate professionalism
- Develop a working relationship with your Fish Camp partner
- Attend all mandatory programs including, but not limited to, bi-weekly meetings, Developmental Programs, Work Weekends, their Session in its entirety, and all events deemed mandatory by Director Staff and Chairpersons
- Execute all other tasks, responsibilities, activities, requirements detailed in the Fish Camp Constitution or other instructional documents, and trainings deemed necessary by Director Staff 2025 and/or approved department staff
- Plan and implement continuity events after camp
- Practice effective communication throughout all levels of Fish Camp including, but not limited to, Advisors, Director Staff, Chairperson Staff 2025, your camp, and the Class of 2029
Camp Counselor
A Camp Counselor is responsible for leading a discussion group of 8-12 freshmen participants at camp as part of a group of 24 counselors. They will attend trainings, assist with mitigating risks for all Fish Camp activities prior to, during, and after camp, and serve as a point of contact for freshman participants at camp and during the continuity period.
Crew Counselor
A Crew Counselor is responsible for providing behind-the-scenes logistical support at camp, assist with welcoming guests at camp, serving as a liaison between individual camps and camp program leadership, as well as leading yell practices and performing skits for the entire camp session. They will attend trainings, assist with mitigating risks for all Fish Camp activities prior to, during, and after camp.
Camp Counselor/Crew Counselor Requirements
- Be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours as an undergraduate student at Texas A&M University or 4 hours as a graduate student at Texas A&M University from the time of selection in the Spring 2025 semester and through the Fall 2025 semester.
- For clarification, in the Fall 2025 semester:
- Be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours as an undergraduate student (unless fewer credits are required to graduate in the Spring and Fall semesters)
- Be enrolled in at least 4 credit hours as a graduate student (unless fewer credits are required in the final stages of your degree)
- Pay a maximum of $220 in Counselor/Crew Member dues (payment plans and scholarships are available after you have been selected).
- Remain in good standing with Fish Camp, remain in good conduct and academic standing with the University, and meet all University-sanctioned requirements for student organization involvement.
- You will be held accountable on all levels regarding any enrollment, academic, and conduct eligibility checks that will be performed throughout the duration of your membership.
- Undergraduate students must have at least a 2.00 overall (cumulative) grade point ratio and at least a 2.00 term grade point ratio in the semester immediately prior to selection, and post at least a 2.00 grade point ratio for the semester of selection and all semesters during their term of membership. This applies to Texas A&M University GPAs. Blinn Team students will need to uphold their TAMU GPA for eligibility purposes.
- Graduate students must have at least a 3.00 overall (cumulative) grade point ratio and at least a 3.00 term grade point ratio in the semester immediately prior to selection, and post at least a 3.00 grade point ratio for the semester of selection and all semesters during their term of membership

- Attend the following events set by Director Staff 2025 in their entirety:
- All bi-weekly camp meetings
- All Developmental Programs (DP’s)
- All Workdays
- Four Days Before Camp Training before your assigned session of Fish Camp
- All other events deemed mandatory by Director Staff 2025
- If extenuating circumstances prevent you from attending one or more of these events, please do not let that hinder you from applying.
