MSC Freshmen in Service and Hosting
MSC FISH Freshman Member
You should apply for MSC FISH because we are dedicated to providing freshmen with leadership opportunities aimed at enhancing their purpose and identity by engaging in community service and program development on campus and within the community.
Note: Answers to application questions should not be more than 3 pages when written on a Google doc/Word doc.
Service:
Freshmen will participate in weekly volunteering in the Bryan/College Station area, as well as out-of-town weekend service experiences. MSC FISH believes service is not only the tangible examples of going to the Brazos Valley Food Bank and BUILD, but is also seen in the way we lead, interact, and carry ourselves.
Social & Leadership:
Compared to the other FLOs, MSC FISH divides our social and professional aspects by providing freshman members with two separate groups. One of these is a smaller group of 8 freshmen and 2 sophomore leaders called a “school.” Throughout the year, these schools are a source of social interaction and provide a family-like environment for members. The other group is the subcommittee including 1-2 junior executive leaders, 4-5 sophomore leaders, and 16-20 freshmen. These subcommittees are where freshmen develop professionally through programming. The two different groups are sources for social interaction and relationship development for our members in their first year of college, but we provide both in order to give our freshmen the greatest chance to build as many connections as possible.
Programs:
- FLO Bowl -- a powderpuff football competition amongst all the FLOs hosted by us!
- Run the Ramps -- a 5-K race through the ramps of Kyle Field!
- Kyle Field Day -- a one-day service carnival held within Kyle Field!
- And many more!

Meetings/Expectations/Dues:
There will be mandatory weekly MSC FISH meetings every Wednesday night at 7:00 PM, and mandatory Subcommittee meetings every Sunday night. Your ability to attend these meetings does not affect the application process in any way.
Freshmen members are required to attain a certain number of service hours per semester. Although not mandatory, members are expected to attend weekly or monthly MSC FISH hangouts and events with other MSC FISH members. Keep in mind, we want you to get the most out of your MSC FISH experience, which requires you to be present and active in this organization.
MSC FISH DUES for Freshmen Members are $100; however, a payment plan can be worked out if necessary. While not required, there will be items throughout the year, like optional FISH apparel and attendance at an optional Winter Retreat, that require varying amounts of payment. These opportunities (and others) are completely optional. Payment plans may be worked out for these opportunities.

Equal Opportunity:
It is the policy of the Memorial Student Center to grant equal opportunity to all qualified persons without regard to race, color, gender, religion, age, sexual orientation, political affiliation, or national origin. To deny one's contribution to our efforts because he or she is a member of a marginalized group is an injustice not only to the individual, but to the MSC and Texas A&M University as well. It is our intent and desire that equal opportunity be provided to all in selections, awards, and review processes and all other privileges.
