The American Dream at 250: Still Within Reach?
-
Where
Rudder Auditorium TAMU
Description
As America turns 250, many are asking whether it still delivers on its promise.
For generations, the “American Dream”—the belief that anyone can achieve success and stability through hard work—has defined the nation’s identity. But as America reaches its 250th anniversary, that optimism is increasingly under pressure. Fewer children are out-earning their parents, concerns about AI and automation grow, and the cost of living continues to rise faster than wages.
This program will explore the forces shaping opportunity in America, and what, if anything, can be done to preserve it. How has our understanding of the Dream evolved since the nation’s founding, and should it be redefined for the realities of today?
Our panelists, drawing on both domestic and international perspectives, will discuss how today’s leaders assess and respond to these challenges, and what they believe must be considered to strengthen the American Dream for the next generation.
