Chair - MSC Aggie Leaders Of Tomorrow (MSC ALOT)
General Position Summary
The Chair of MSC ALOT is responsible for managing a staff of 5-6 Executives, 18-22 Group Leaders, and 60-90 freshmen members, as well as working alongside a Vice Chair. The Chair is responsible for overseeing various tasks performed by Executives, Group Leaders, and freshmen, including:
- Setting and facilitating a full budget for one fiscal year
- Recruit current members to fill staff positions for the following school year
- Organizing and planning freshmen recruitment process
- Coordinating interview process and member management processes for all positions
- Overseeing and facilitating work being done by Executives, Group Leaders, and freshmen members
- Maintaining a knowledge of the MSC ALOT policies and serving as a facilitator of them
- Development of both executive and general staff members
- Being a liaison between the MSC, and ALOT, specifically through the Program Assembly

- The new Chair of MSC ALOT will be responsible for further establishing the organization’s role within the MSC. It will be their responsibility to make sure ALOT's programs are aligned with the current goals of the MSC E-Team, promote co-programming with other MSC organizations, and increase utilization of resource areas.
- Work on finding, coordinating and communicating the new possibilities for programming that fit within the MSC
- Develop a long term development plan to help further grow committee

Required MSC Officer Responsibilities

Attend Weekly Monday Night Meetings: When creating your academic schedule, please be mindful of your requirement to attend Program Assembly meetings every Monday night at 6pm. |
Assist with MSC Committee Alignment to Memorial Student Center: Committee Chairs have the responsibility of directing their committee’s goals and year to meet the needs of the department. |
Complete the full Academic Year: MSC Officer positions are meant to be performed for the full academic year from Fall to Spring, with the exception of some work from home during semester breaks (winter and summer). |
Attend Leadership Launch: Every spring, the MSC hosts Leadership Launch in order to assist with the transition of new leaders. |
Represent your committee at Unity Dinner: Unity Dinner is a way to bring all outgoing and incoming officers to gain an understanding and awareness of diversity in leadership. |
Understand the Student-Staff Partnership: The MSC Student Programs Office operates under a unique 1:1 relationship between student and advisor |

Required Experience, Knowledge, and/or Skills
- Excellent organizational skills and communication skills
- Previous experience in an MSC committee and an understanding of the MSC structure
- Experience with planning programs, retreats, and other events
- Previous experience in working with a team, and leading them
Preferred Experience, Knowledge, and/or Skills
- Experience with running meetings and making meeting agendas
- Experience in MSC ALOT as a staff member
- Knowledge of each sub-committee in order to provide guidance
- Knowledge of the Committee Advancement Team processes, committees, and resources within the MSC
- Ability to set a vision and plan for the year, and the ability to achieve it

Required MSC Council Officer Responsibilities:
- Represent the MSC Council: As a student leader in the MSC Council, your actions are a direct reflection and representation of the organization and our values. Committee Chairs have the responsibility of directing their committee’s programs and goals to ensure alignment with those of the MSC Council.
- Alignment with the MSC Programs mission: MSC Programs will prioritize support for programs, experiences, and student leadership opportunities that reflect and align with its mission of engaging students in providing purposefully designed campus programs and service opportunities that prepare them to be global leaders.

- Complete the full Academic Year: MSC Officer positions are meant to be performed for the full academic year including the Summer.
- Attend Leadership Launch (& August Leadership Refresher): Every spring, the MSC hosts Leadership Launch in order to assist with the transition of new leaders.
- Understand the Student-Staff Partnership: Each committee is assigned an advisor by MSC Programs. Through that advisor, MSC Programs and the MSC Council are committed to strong student/staff partnerships and built upon the idea that there is mutuality in teaching and learning and that advisors and students see each other as a resource; each group offering what it uniquely can provide.
