Chair - MSC Student Conference on Latinx Affairs (MSC SCOLA)
General Position Summary
The MSC SCOLA Chair is responsible for the planning, organizing, and execution of the annual “Student Conference on Latinx Affairs.” The Chair shall delegate tasks to the board and its members in order to ensure a successful annual conference and supervise the progress of any and all programs within the organization. The Chair shall call meetings, create agendas, and preside over SCOLA meetings. It is the Chair’s responsibility to assist with student development through creation and application of professional and leadership programs. The Chair shall act as liaison between SCOLA, and TAMU, its affiliates, and the community. The Chair shall foster a welcoming atmosphere inside and outside of MSC SCOLA through partnerships, networking, and leadership among TAMU faculty, staff, stakeholders and students.
Minimum Requirement
- One year of MSC Leadership experience or equivalent.

MSC SCOLA is in its third year as a programming committee, the chair must familiarize themselves with the policies regarding the creation and follow through of a new MSC committee, which can be found in the MSC Policies Handbook
Required MSC Officer Responsibilities

Attend Weekly Monday Night Meetings: When creating your academic schedule, please be mindful of your requirement to attend Committee Advancement Team meetings every Monday night at 6pm. | |
Assist with MSC Committee Alignment to Memorial Student Center: Committee Chairs have the responsibility of directing their committee’s goals and year to meet the needs of the department. | |
Complete the full Academic Year: MSC Officer positions are meant to be performed for the full academic year from Fall to Spring. | |
Attend Leadership Launch: Every spring, the MSC hosts Leadership Launch in order to assist with the transition of new leaders. | |
Represent your committee at Unity Dinner: Unity Dinner is a way to bring all outgoing and incoming officers to gain an understanding and awareness of diversity in leadership. | |
Understand the Student-Staff Partnership: The MSC Student Programs Office operates under a unique 1:1 relationship between student and advisor |
