Student Technician (Web Designer)
Technology Services is seeking a student web designer in support of the Division of Student Affairs. Under direction, the student web designer (UI/UX) will work closely with the software application developers to create user-centered designs and front-end interfaces for web and mobile applications, ensuring web accessibility compliance. This role requires an understanding of design principles, user experience, and front-end development technologies. The student web designer will be responsible for creating wireframes, mockups, prototypes, and user interface designs along with testing and documenting business processes of new and existing software applications.

Duties:
Under direction, the student web designer (UI/UX) will work closely with the software application developers to create user-centered designs and front-end interfaces for web and mobile applications, ensuring web accessibility compliance. This role requires an understanding of design principles, user experience, and front-end development technologies. The student web designer will be responsible for creating wireframes, mockups, prototypes, and user interface designs along with testing and documenting business processes of new and existing software applications.
Eligibility:
Technology Services encourages all eligible students to apply who are available throughout the Fall 2024 term. Eligibility requires the applicant to be in good academic standing with the University, have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and demonstrate a positive work ethic.
Availability:
Require availability to work in College Station during the Fall 2024 term.
Qualifications
Required Experience:
- Knowledge of responsive web design best practices.
- Knowledge of user-centered design principles and practices.
- Knowledge of web accessibility standards and guidelines.
- Experience with design tools such as Figma, Adobe Creative Cloud and Adobe XD, with a focus on accessibility design considerations.
- Strong writing skills for clear, concise end-user documentation, adaptable to various audiences.
Preferred Experience:
- Familiar with the Tailwind CSS framework.
- Experience with PHP a plus.
