Executive Vice President of Diversity
Job Summary
The Executive Vice President of Diversity (EVPD) is responsible for effectively implementing the MSC Diversity Plan. The EVPD is proactive and responsive to diversity, equity, inclusion, and access matters. The EVPD supervises two positions: Vice President of Organizational Diversity and Vice President of Diversity Education and promotes a non-discriminatory and harassment-free environment by supervising training and monitoring compliance efforts. This position is expected to represent the MSC at various functions and events at Texas A&M as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
- One year of MSC experience or equivalent.
- Commitment of 15 hours per week to position and associated responsibilities.
- Demonstrated cross-cultural competencies, including strong emotional intelligence.
- Demonstrated excellence in communication (written and oral) with proven track record of facilitating conversations and mediating varying opinions.
- Experience working with diverse populations.
- Outgoing personality with the innate ability to influence others

Required MSC Officer Role & Responsibilities:
- Represent the MSC – Student Programs Office: As a student leader in the MSC Student Programs Office, you are a reflection of the department and our MSC Values.
- Assist with MSC Committee Alignment to Memorial Student Center: Committee Chairs have the responsibility of directing their committee’s goals and year to meet the needs of the department.
- Complete the full Academic Year: MSC Officer positions are meant to be performed for the full academic year from Fall to Spring.
- Attend Leadership Launch: Every spring, the MSC hosts Leadership Launch in order to assist with the transition of new leaders.
- Represent your committee at Unity Event: Unity Event is a way to bring all outgoing and incoming officers to gain an understanding and awareness of diversity in leadership.
- Understand the Student-Staff Partnership: The MSC Student Programs Office operates under a unique 1:1 relationship between student and advisor.
Essential Functions and Duties
1. Human Resources & Budget Management: Completes duties related to staff/volunteer productivity and fiscal responsibility (25%)
- Completes selection process for the Vice President of Organizational Diversity and Vice President of Diversity Education; including but not limited to recruiting, interviewing, and checking references; includes supervision after selection.
- Trains VPs in the student leader learning outcomes: Diversity, Ethical Leadership, Effective Feedback, Project Management, Communication
- Assists with fiscal oversight of budget; makes purchases with Advisor’s ProCard; adheres to all budget policies as needed.
- Submits room and university support requests for meetings and events as needed.
- Completes interdepartmental paperwork and archival record keeping.
2. Chief Diversity Strategist: Directs work to actualize the MSC Diversity Plan (25%)
- Works with Student Affairs, Planning, Research and Assessment (SAPAR) on the following assessments:
- Demographics Dashboard (October) - Collects UINs for all MSC members
- Bi-Annual Focus Groups (November - December) - Facilitates the following focus groups for: 1) President/EVP/VP, 2) Chair/Resource Directors, 3) Middle Managers (Execs) and 4) Members. - Plans/Facilitates Unity Breakfast in conjunction with Leadership Launch (April)
- Implements practical actions in support of the MSC Diversity Plan.
- Directs VPs work toward supporting the MSC Diversity Plan; overseeing educational programming and talent management initiatives.
3. Communications: Provides leadership and vision for all public relations and marketing functions (15%)
- Serves as MSC student liaison for diversity, equity, inclusion, and access working with the MSC Communications Coordinator.
- Represents and promotes MSC Diversity Plan by increasing its visibility and supporting its goals and objectives.
- Leads the development and implementation of the MSC Diversity team brand vision, strategy, and public relations campaigns; this includes working with MSC Marketing to create a t-shirt with your theme for the year - order before Thanksgiving break to had out at least Diversity Program Assembly (DPA).
- Host and execute an organizational fair held within the SPO; only for MSC-affiliated Organizations/Committees (September/February).
