Executive Vice President of Programs
General summary of this position:
The MSC Executive Vice President of Programs (EVPP) is a member of the MSC Executive Team, oversees all external MSC programming activities, leads the Vice Presidents of Programs, and chairs the Programs Team. The EVPP performs the duties of the President in his/her absence. The EVPP is responsible for MSC programming policy enforcement and for proposing programming policy changes to the Executive Team. In accepting the position, the EVPP agrees to fulfill the duties outlined in the MSC Constitution and to represent the MSC in a positive manner. The EVPP represents the interests of MSC Committees and Vice Presidents of Programs, providing insight and feedback to the MSC Stakeholders.
Minimum Requirement: One year of MSC Leadership experience or equivalent.

Significant changes or additional functions for this position in the upcoming year:
- Set and create agendas for Programs Team Meetings
- Communicate with committees regarding policy updates
- Oversee Summer Approval Process
- Attend MSC Programs as able
- Cultivate relationships with MSC Officers and represent their interests to MSC leadership
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of all elements of the MSC
Required MSC Officer Responsibilities:
- Represent the MSC – Student Programs Office: As a student leader in the MSC Student Programs Office, you are a reflection of the department and our MSC Values.
- Attend Weekly Monday Night Meetings: When creating your academic schedule, please be mindful of your requirement to attend Program Assembly meetings every other Monday night at 6pm. (Chairs only – VPs as assigned; EVPs when needed)
- Assist with MSC Committee Alignment to Memorial Student Center: Committee Chairs have the responsibility of directing their committee’s goals and year to meet the needs of the department.
- Complete the full Academic Year: MSC Officer positions are meant to be performed for the full academic year from Fall to Spring.
- Attend Leadership Launch: Every spring, the MSC hosts Leadership Launch in order to assist with the transition of new leaders.
- Represent your committee at Unity Event: Unity Event is a way to bring all outgoing and incoming officers to gain an understanding and awareness of diversity in leadership.
- Understand the Student-Staff Partnership: The MSC Student Programs Office operates under a unique 1:1 relationship between student and advisor.

Preferred Experience, Knowledge, and/or Skills:
- Experience as an effective leader in the MSC (chair or equivalent)
- Knowledge of the structure and processes of the MSC and ability to administer rules consistently but with appropriate flexibility
- Ability to think critically, to be organized, and to plan effectively
- Strong communication skills – written and verbal – as well as the ability to comfortably speak in public before a variety of groups; tact, ability to be assertive as needed
- Show flexibility, positive attitude, ability to listen and work toward compromise
- Good time management; ability to handle stress in a positive manner
- Proficient in Google Docs, Slides, and Sheets
