Freshmen Reflecting While Developing

FRWD Freshman Member

This position is closed.

FRWD provides incoming freshmen with a stepping stone into A&M and Mays Business School. We know the transition from high school to college is a big one. Our goal is to create a family of business majors to give freshmen the confidence to tackle their first year at Texas A&M University! With our sophomore mentors and junior executive team, we have an abundance of knowledge and experience to pass down to incoming freshmen!

In addition, we are the only FLO that takes only Mays Business School Freshmen, giving us the unique opportunity to help mold our freshmen into well-rounded individuals that have the skills to be successful in the business world and beyond.

We offer support in every possible way to help our members grow socially, professionally, and academically, and we have a clear track record of success in those areas. Socially, we have alumni in every major women's and men's org on campus, and we place heavy emphasis on encouraging our members to get involved in other orgs at Texas A&M. Professionally, we have alumni working at every major corporation that you can think of (Amazon, EY, Deloitte, KPMG, Lockheed Martin, PwC, LyondellBasell, Chase), and we have current members interning in some of the most competitive fields. Academically, we hold the distinction of having some of the highest GPAs in Mays Business School. Being that the mentors and executives have already taken the classes incoming freshmen will be in, we are able to guide freshmen and help them prioritize school work while also having fun!

In short, FRWD is an organization for leaders who are willing to grow.

Our informationals will be held on August 24th at 8:00 pm and September 7th at 8:00 pm. Check our Instagram @tamufrwd for updates about the location of our informationals!

To provide a glimpse of what being in FRWD looks like, the FLO’s Student Leaders completed an assessment of their previous year. The following should be used as information to help you make an informed decision about being a member of FRWD, but please note that your experience may look different.

What does a “week in FRWD” look like?

A week in FRWD would include a mandatory weekly meeting and throughout the week there would be opportunities to play intramurals and attend various service and social events.

FLOs are evaluated yearly based on several factors. Three of these factors are Leadership, Service, and Social. Here is what last year’s members experienced in these areas:

LeadershipAll of our committees (service, social, PR, and finance) are run solely by our freshmen members, with the guidance and advice of 2 sophomore mentors and a junior exec. Allowing our freshmen to run the committees on their own gives them a chance to experience working in a large organization, while at the same time giving them valuable leadership experience. In addition, we host speakers as well as workshops throughout the year focused on helping all of our members grow as leaders.
ServiceFRWD has recently adopted a philanthropy: NAMI Brazos Valley. “NAMI provides advocacy, education, support, and public awareness so that all individuals and families affected by mental illness can build better lives." Along with serving NAMI, FRWD performs service events throughout the BCS community including hosting can drives, park-clean ups, and preparing gifts for those in need during the holidays.
SocialSocial events are imperative in making FRWD a family. They provide opportunites for the freshmen to meet one another and engage with their mentors and junior executives. Social events include Lake Bryan trips, dinners, road trips, 2 retreats, A&M sport events, an end-of-year banquet, intramurals, and so much more! Connecting with fellow FRWD members is such a priority for us and really helps in making the year successful.
