Additionally, we will be hosting optional informationals on Thursday, October 16th from 6:00 - 7:00 pm in Koldus 144 and Monday, October 20th from 6:00 - 7:00 pm in Koldus 144 for prospective applicants to gain more information about the positions.

As a Camp Chairperson or Crew Chairperson, you will have the opportunity to lead a group of counselors and provide freshmen with long-lasting relationships that embody the Aggie Spirit.  This application is a stepping stone toward making an impact on many incoming Aggies, their college careers, and their lives as former students.

Chairperson Positions 

Responsibilities

• Uphold the Mission, Vision, and Values of Fish Camp
• Uphold Texas A&M University’s Student Rules and Core Values
• Uphold and enforce all policies within Fish Camp and hold all members accountable to these policies
• Complete all administrative responsibilities by their deadlines
• Demonstrate professionalism
• Participate in counselor interviews and application review processes
• Develop counselors and your camp as a whole in order to prepare them for the incoming freshmen class
• Develop a working relationship with your chair partner
• Schedule, attend, and facilitate bi-weekly (once every two weeks) meetings with your camp
• Plan and implement events before, during, and after camp
• Be proactive in assessing risks related to all camp activities and keep safety a top priority
• Practice effective communication throughout all levels of Fish Camp including, but not limited to, Advisors, Director Staff, Chairperson Staff 2026, your camp, and the Class of 2030
• Serve as an ambassador for Texas A&M University

Camp Chairperson

A Camp Chairperson is responsible for leading 24 camp counselors who directly interact with freshman participants at camp. They will lead trainings, mitigate risks for all Fish Camp activities prior to, during, and after camp, and serve as a point of contact for freshman participants at camp and during the continuity period. For Fish Camp 2026, the leadership structure for each individual camp will include a Chair and a Co-Chair. 

Crew Chairperson

A Crew Chairperson is responsible for leading 24 crew members who provide behind-the-scenes support at camp including, but not limited to filling water jugs, assisting with bus transitions, providing essential items participants forgot to pack, and serving as check in headquarters for all guests. They will lead trainings, mitigate risks for all Fish Camp activities prior to, during, and after camp, and serve as a point of contact for freshman participants, chairs, counselors, namesakes, and guests at camp. 

Camp Chair/Crew Chair Requirements

• Be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours as an undergraduate student at Texas A&M University or 4 hours as a graduate student at Texas A&M University from the time of selection in the Fall 2025 semester and through the Fall 2026 semester.
  • For clarification, in the Fall 2026 semester:
    • Be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours as an undergraduate student (unless fewer credits are required to graduate in the Spring and Fall semesters)
    • Be enrolled in at least 4 credit hours as a graduate student (unless fewer credits are required in the final stages of your degree)
• Remain in the Bryan/College Station area for the Spring 2026 semester, Summer I and II 2026 semesters, and Fall 2026 semester unless otherwise approved by the Head Director and the Fish Camp Advisors.
• If selected to proceed to interviews, you will be asked what your plans are for Spring, Summer, and Fall of 2026. Please do not let an extenuating circumstance keep you from applying.
• Pay a maximum of $250 in Chairperson dues (payment plans and scholarships are available after you have been selected).
• Remain in good standing with Fish Camp, remain in good conduct and academic standing with the University, and meet all University-sanctioned requirements for student organization involvement.
  • You will be held accountable on all levels regarding any enrollment, academic, and conduct eligibility checks that will be performed throughout the duration of your membership.
• Undergraduate students must have at least a 2.00 overall (cumulative) grade point ratio and at least a 2.00 term grade point ratio in the semester immediately prior to selection, and post at least a 2.00 grade point ratio for the semester of selection and all semesters during his or her term of membership.
• Graduate students must have at least a 3.00 overall (cumulative) grade point ratio and at least a 3.00 term grade point ratio in the semester immediately prior to selection, and post at least a 3.00 grade point ratio for the semester of selection and all semesters during his or her term of membership
• If you do not currently meet the GPR requirement, you can appeal the GPR requirement at https://getinvolved.tamu.edu/org/fishcamp/forms/2481 (copy and paste link in a new browser tab) before turning in your application on October 29th at 11:59 pm.
• You must be able to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate the ethics of Fish Camp in every decision and action made including but not limited to:
  • Keeping the procedures regarding Director, Chairperson, and Counselor selections confidential
  • Keeping grades confidential
  • Maintaining high ethical standards throughout these processes
  • Any other discussions, procedures, or information deemed confidential by Director Staff 2026
• Failure to comply with the confidentiality agreement is subject to immediate removal from the Co-Chair selections process and the organization.
• Execute all other tasks, responsibilities, activities, requirements detailed in the Fish Camp Constitution or other instructional documents, and trainings deemed necessary by Director Staff 2026 and/or approved department staff.
• Attend the following events set by Director Staff 2026 in their entirety:
  • All staff meetings (to be held Monday evenings)
  • All Developmental Programs (DP’s)
  • All Workdays
  • Staff Retreats
    • Polar Bear: January 7-9th or 9-11, 2026 (tentatively)
    • Winter Retreat: January 23-25, 2026 (tentatively)
    • Summer Retreat: June 12-14
  • Seven Days Before Camp Training and Four Days of Fish Camp
  • Lakeview Set-Up before Session A or Tear-Down after all sessions are complete
  • Assigned Send-Off/Bring Back
  • All other events deemed mandatory by Director Staff 2026
  • If extenuating circumstances prevent you from attending one or more of these events, please do not let that hinder you from applying.
