Founded: 2009
Texas A&M University (College Station, TX)

The purpose of the Texas A&M University (TAMU) American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) Student Chapter is to provide professional development/career opportunities to undergraduate and graduate students studying the petroleum geosciences and related disciplines and provide a forum for notifying students of the goings-on and events of the greater AAPG organization (and related organization activity including but not limited to: publications, meeting dates, field trip/course and short course promotions, scholarship opportunities) at the local, regional, national and international levels. This chapter is also used as a tool by which university faculty and organization members can design, plan and execute industry-sponsored field trips, tech talks, seminars, workshops and short courses locally (and regionally) for students and faculty interested in learning about the petroleum geosciences (and related disciplines) as they relate to local to worldwide impacts on the developments and innovations of the geosciences, global economics (futures, commodities, etc.), geopolitics (international availability and production of oils, gas, NGLs, and other petroleum-related commodities), government policy (local, state, national) and the environment (local, state, national).
