Medical School for Kids Outreach is a student-led initiative inspired by the Medical School for Kids book series by Drs. Brandon Pham and Betty Nguyen. Our mission is to spark children’s curiosity about medicine and health while making learning fun, interactive, and approachable. By partnering with undergraduate students, medical professionals, and local community members, we bring engaging activities and read-aloud sessions directly to schools. Through storytelling and hands-on learning stations, children are introduced to different areas of healthcare in a way that is both exciting and easy to understand. For university students and volunteers, our program provides meaningful opportunities to develop pediatric communication skills, develop mentorship experience, and gain experience teaching healthcare concepts. By teaching and engaging with young learners, volunteers strengthen their ability to connect with diverse audiences and inspire the next generation of healthcare professionals. During our events, children participate in activities such as mini white coat ceremonies, read-alouds, and crafts. These activities emphasize empathy, teamwork, and patient-centered care while making the medical field less intimidating and more relatable. Through these efforts, MD for Kids Outreach aims to foster early interest in health & science and empower children to imagine themselves as future doctors, nurses, and healthcare leaders.
