MSC FLI Vice Chair

This is the application to apply for the Vice Chair position for the upcoming school year. Please read the
following information carefully. It is a lot of information, but if you have any questions about the application
or the position, don't hesitate to reach out to Chair, Vice-Chair, or Advisor.

Applications close on March 1st.

General Information:
1) Every applicant is required to interview. When your application has been received, you will be contacted to setup an interview time and location. Interview times will be announced via email, you are responsible for signing up for an interview when this email is sent. Alternate dates and times may be arranged if necessary. The dress will be business casual, and allow at least an hour for this interview.

2) All details provided on this application may be subject to change. This includes, but is not limited to, mandatory dates of attendance and position responsibilities.


Basic Responsibilities:
In general:
1) Be present, prompt, and participative for all meetings
2) Execute programs in an efficient and effective manner
3) Attend Weekly General Committee Meetings (Wednesdays 7:00 – 8:00 P.M.)
4) Attend weekly Staff Meetings (Tuesdays 6:00 – 7:00 PM) and biweekly Exec Meetings (Tuesdays 5:30-6:00) 
5) Ensure that any potential programs and activities are in accordance with the mission of the organization as well as that of the MSC and the University
6) To actively participate in discussion of the status of the committee as a whole and in staff development activities
7) Attend Staff Transitions meeting (TBD)
8) Attend Staff Workshop (TBD)
9) Help Chair choose rest of staff
10) Attend Freshmen Deliberations to decide on freshmen applicants for MSC FLI 2025-26

Recruitment:
1) Lead the Freshmen Recruitment Process
2) Assist in any delegated tasks by the chair, fellow staff, or advisor
3) Attend Summer Recruitment Retreat/meetings (Date TBD) and attend FLC Conference (sometime in August)
4) To finalize recruitment, application, and interview processes
5) To review plans for the committee in an effort to prepare the organization for its new members

Vice Chair Specific Responsibilities
1) Oversee the Recruitment Process for incoming freshmen into MSC FLI.
2) Help lead weekly staff meetings. Take minutes during biweekly executive meetings.
3) Attend weekly meetings with the MSC FLI Chair and Advisor.
4) Facilitate one-on-one meetings with Executives/Assistant Directors to solve program questions and subcommittee issues.
5) Serve as a key team leader in the Costa Rica Service Learning Program.
6) Additional responsibilities of the Vice Chair include helping coordinate administrative tasks for the committee, and working in conjunction with the MSC FLI Chair to tackle both short-term and long-term issues the committee faces as a whole. Also the Vice Chair serves in a leadership role with regard to internal development, socials, and Fleets. Because of this, time commitment and activities will vary on a weekly bases.

Time commitment summary:
Weekly meeting with Advisor and Chair (time TBD - lasts 1 hour)
Weekly Executive Staff/Staff meetings(Tuesdays 5:30 – 7:00 PM)
Weekly GCM meetings (Wednesdays 7:00-8:00)
Costa Rica Subcommittee meetings (time/day TBD)
One-on-one meetings with AD's or Execs (once or twice a semester)
