Description

A&M STUDENT REGISTRATION CLOSED

MSC Woodson Black Awareness Committee’s Diaspora Education program educates about the African Diaspora through the Homeward to My Heritage (H2MH) initiative, which focuses on student development via experiential learning. This initiative includes: 1)  Cultural Trips, 2) Ancestry Project/Speech Contest, and 3) Black History Month programming. This initiative originated from a strategic plan objective to create a high-impact practice benefiting student development related to the African Diaspora.

We look forward to taking a delegation of our members to attend the annual conference that was started by our committee's namesake - Dr. Carter G. Woodson.  The 110th Annual Conference of Association for the Study of African American Life & History (ASALH) was established on September 9, 1915, by Dr. Carter G. Woodson, Founder of Black History Month. The vision of ASALH is to be the premier Black Heritage-learned society with a strong network of national and international branches and partners whose diverse and inclusive membership will continue the Woodson legacy. Consistent with MSC WBAC’s purpose for the Texas A&M community, ASALH’s mission is to promote, research, preserve, interpret and disseminate information about Black life, history and culture to the global community.
