  • Mission & Values: The mission of the Student Mobility Advocacy Coalition (SMAC) is to support and further the efforts of local mobility-assistance organizations by serving individuals with mobility disabilities.  Through volunteer service, education, and engineering-informed interventions, SMAC empowers students to serve with empathy and promote dignity and quality of life for people with limited mobility. Our values include:
    • Empathy: We approach all individuals with compassion, attempting to understand their unique challenges and needs.
    • Service: We commit to offering hands-on help to improve lives ranging from wheelchair maintenance to health education.
    • Inclusivity: We actively support underrepresented communities, such as immigrants, refugees, and people living with disabilities.
    • Innovation: We use our engineering and medical training to find creative solutions that improve mobility and quality of life.
  • Goals: The major goals of this organization shall include:
    • Serve as a pillar of advocacy for those with mobility disabilities
    • Foster long-term partnerships with mobility-assistance organizations
    • Equip future healthcare professionals  with skills, compassion, and cultural competence to serve patients with mobility challenges in clinical and community settings
    • Build relationships with individuals in the community with disabilities
